Welcome to the Galo Combatives Group Training Event.

Join Combative Instructor Professor Sam Ferguson for a specialized training seminar focusing on effectively navigating and prevailing in a hostile, grappling/entangled weapon-based environment.

This educational seminar is designed to address various real-world scenarios, successfully equipping participants with essential skills and tactics to enhance their ability to combat and subdue, confrontations with hostile adversaries.

It is common for many individuals to contemplate how they would manage or should have managed a violent encounter at some point in their lives.

Whether you are familiar with such situations or looking to expand your knowledge and capabilities, this seminar is for you.

Consider the following questions:

• Can you de-escalate a situation before it escalates to physical harm?
• In the event of physical altercation, do you possess strategies and techniques to improve your abilities to halt, restrain, evade, or incapacitate a threat?
• How would you respond if a weapon is introduced into the scenario?
• How about when TWO weapons are in play (one belonging to the aggressor and one to you)?

Enhancing your understanding in managing such critical situations could prove highly advantageous for your safety or for others.

Professor Sam Ferguson, with his expertise, will be here to provide valuable insight and training to give you the skills necessarily needed. Below is a brief biography:

Sam Ferguson is currently a police officer in Lexington KY and has been for the last 6 years.

Prior to becoming a police officer Sam was heavily involved in combat sports. He began wrestling at 8 years old and then transitioned to competitive fighting and grappling as an adult.

Sam has years of experience fighting MMA, Muy Thai, and boxing. He is best known for his ability as a grappler despite his striking experience. Sam holds a blue belt in Judo and a first degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

He has made a name for himself on the competitive scene for bjj, having medaled at No GI worlds from purple to black belt, and still competes regularly. Sam stays involved with wrestling as well and is an assistant coach at Madison Central High School.

Once Sam became a police officer he worked on refining his skill set for application at work. This led him to the integration of weapons into his training. This is commonly referred to as combatives, and Sam was among the first civilians to be awarded a black belt in combatives from Matt Larsen.

He has been lucky enough to train alongside world class instructors such as Craig Douglas, Paul Sharpe, Aaron Janetti and Larry Lindenman.

For This Event:

• Wear athletic clothing but be cautious of any clothing with extra zippers
• Bring an extra set of clothing for each day if you plan on changing before each training block.
• Bring an extra shirt or preferably hoodie that you wouldn't mind getting stretched or slightly torn.
• Bring snacks and water (vending machines are onsite)
• Bring a camera, phone, notebook.
• Mouth guard is optional.
• And most importantly, bring a positive attitude. We are all here to have fun and learn something valuable for our own personal reasons.
